A joint monitoring visit from Act Alliance was held on Friday January 15, 2016 with an objective to monitor the activities of implementing partner Friends Service Council Nepal (FSCN) under Earthquake Emergency Project (EEP) and the impact of the activities on the target groups. The Act Alliance team visited Bungmati of Karyabinayak Municipality and a brief information about the visit is as follows.
The team first visited Triratna Secondary School and observed school latrine constructed by DCA/NCA/FSCN and also observed class on “Earthquake Response Drills in School” being conducted by DRR team of FSCN.
Second visit was to the “Safe home for community based psychosocial counseling” and observed the ongoing “Conflict mitigation Through Appreciative Inquiry” program.
The team then visited the site of household latrines built by the support from DCA/NCA/FSCN and interacted with the community beneficiaries.
After visiting the household latrine sites, the team went to Chandeswori School where they observed the ongoing “Hygiene Promotion Class” to the women group and interacted with them regarding the knowledge that they have gained from such classes from FSCN trainers. The team also visited the ongoing drawing competition and interacted with the children who participated in the competition. After that, the team visited FSCN’s livelihood training center in Bungmati where “Wood Carving Skill Development Training” was going on. After observing the training, the monitoring team, DCA team, FSCN team and the community people including the mother and women groups gathered in a common venue where there was briefing about all the completed and ongoing activities of the project by FSCN officer Mr. Prashant Poudel and also by Bungmati Temporary Housing and Reconstruction Management Committee coordinator Mr. Prem Bhakta Maharjan. The program was ended after an interaction session of Act Alliance monitoring team with the local community people regarding the activities of EEP project and their needs in the future.
