Nepal has suffered a lot from ongoing conflict, tensions and maoist insurgency. The conflict has not only affected a particular group, community, sector or specific situation of the nation but the entire process of the country particularly extension of development, to drive the nation according to the demands of new era. It has extremely ruined social, economic, political, educational sectors and infrastructures for development. It also has dismantled the morale and confidence of general people, especially children and women who were more affected. As a result, it has changed economic strategies, political scenario, social norms and values etc. People feel insecure to live anywhere. Thousands of innocent people have lost their precious life. Numerous families have been displaced from their own places and have migrated to secured places. But unfortunately, no place is secure. Thousands of women and children have been divested of love, care and guidance. They were hopeful of improved socio-economic conditions and had dreams of better life with good governance such as accountability, transparency, rule of law, responsiveness, and inclusiveness along with sound social security. As a result, they are obliged to live a miserable life.

People's movement II for democracy, human rights freedom and socio economic development was successful. Maoist and other political parties agreed to act in political mainstream following peace agreement and constituent assembly. And this is a matter of satisfaction for the entire Nepalese people. But still, peace agreement cannot successfully restore peace and harmony within the political parties and community. Because of this, people are suffering from various socio-economic, cultural and political problems. Different types of conflict still persist in the community and between people of the community.
A society can never be transformed into a positive and constructive society until and unless there is peace. Long lasting peace is necessary for whole development of nation. Taking this issue seriously, FSCN has been launching various programs to promote peace, social harmony, cooperation and conflict management in the nation. We believe that it will contribute to peace building and overall development of the nation.
