28 July 2016: An interaction program on “Livelihood, Food and Nutrition Security” was organized by FSCN in its training hall located in Imadol, Mahalaxmi municipality-19. The main objective of the interaction program was to discuss about how food and nutrition security can be improved so as to make livelihoods more secure and resilient in the present scenario after the devastating earthquake on 25 April, 2015.
Altogether 41 participants (26 male/ 15 female) participated in the program including representatives from various government and private sector organizations working in the sector of nutrition, food security and livelihood support (eg. District Livestock Service Office, Forum for Protection of Consumer Rights- Nepal, Dan Church Aid, HELVETAS, JURI-Nepal etc.). Few post-graduate students of nutrition, advocates working in the sector of food security and media persons also participated in the program.
Major highlights of the program were presentation on “Present scenario and challenges of Nutrition in Nepal” by Namrata Chhetri and presentation on “Right to food in Nepal” by Dr. Sarba Raj Khadka, member of Right to food network-Nepal, followed by open discussion and interaction session related to the topic.
